Smooth legs are fast legs - the Fast Legs guide to shaving your legs
As a cyclist, runner, triathlete or swimmer, shaving your legs is worth it. Not only are you faster, your legs look stronger and you may even look more pro.
If you’re new to it, it can be intimidating - but with the right tools and techniques, it can be a smooth and easy process.
- The day before: exfoliate your legs using a loofah or brush and Fast Legs Antibacterial Body Wash (coming soon).
- Gather your supplies: You'll need a razor, shaving cream or gel, and a moisturiser. Make sure your razor is new or has a sharp blade. A multi-blade disposable razor is fine (apart from landfill).
- Prep your skin: Take a warm shower or bath to soften your skin and hair.
- Apply shaving cream: Apply a generous amount of shaving cream or gel to your legs. This will help lubricate the skin and prevent irritation.
- Take your time: Shave your legs in sections, and rewet your skin and refresh the shaving cream where needed.
- Shave in the direction of hair growth: Start at the ankle and move upwards in smooth strokes. Shave in the direction of hair growth to prevent ingrown hairs and irritation. Be careful around boney areas such as your knees and ankles.
- Rinse your razor frequently: Rinse your razor often to remove hair and shaving cream build-up. This will help prevent clogging and ensure a closer shave.
- Rinse your legs: After shaving, rinse your legs with cool water to close your pores. Pat your legs dry with a towel.
- Moisturise: Apply a moisturiser, such as Fast Legs Face Recovery Gel (yes, it's great for your legs too!), to your legs to keep them soft and smooth. This will also help prevent irritation and ingrown hairs.
- Clean your razor: Rinse your razor thoroughly and store it in a dry place. Don’t use it more than a couple of times before changing the blades.
- Repeat as needed: Depending on how fast your hair grows, you may need to shave your legs every few days or once a week.
